Rides to the Care You Need
MediTrans provides non-emergency medical transportation for Medicaid members enrolled in Louisiana’s managed care health plans. We coordinate rides statewide: to hospitals, clinics, dialysis centers, therapy sessions, and everything in between. You schedule it, we handle the rest.
Doctor’s Appointments
MediTrans coordinates rides to primary care visits, specialist appointments, and follow-ups across Louisiana. Our drivers assist with mobility needs and get you from your door to the facility entrance, on time.
Rehab Center Transfers
We provide scheduled, recurring rides to physical therapy, occupational therapy, and outpatient rehab. We coordinate directly with your facility to match pickup times to your treatment schedule.
Home Healthcare
If you receive care at home but still need rides to outside appointments—lab work, imaging, pharmacy, specialists—MediTrans coordinates transportation around your existing home health schedule.

Questions about getting a ride? Here are answers to what people ask us most.
1. What types of transport services do you offer?
It depends on your needs. We provide ambulatory rides for members who can walk independently, wheelchair-accessible vehicles for manual and power chair users, stretcher transport for members who need to travel lying down, and Broda chair transport for members with specialized seating needs. When you schedule your ride, your health plan will work with us to assign the right vehicle.
2. How much does a ride cost?
Nothing. Non-emergency medical transportation is a covered benefit for eligible Louisiana Medicaid members. Your health plan covers the cost—there’s no charge to you.
3. Is MediTrans available in my area?
Yes. MediTrans serves every parish in Louisiana. We became the state’s first and only Coordinated Transportation Network (CTN) in 2020, and we manage a statewide network of qualified transportation providers along with our own dedicated fleet. Wherever you are in Louisiana, we can get you to your appointment.
4. What if I need assistance during the ride?
Our drivers are trained to help you board and exit the vehicle, secure your wheelchair or mobility equipment, and make sure you’re comfortable during the trip. If you need extra help, tell us when you schedule your ride so we can send the right driver and vehicle. In a medical emergency during transport, our drivers will contact 911 right away.
5. What should I do if my ride doesn’t show up?
If your driver hasn’t arrived and your pickup window has passed, call MediTrans or your health plan’s transportation line immediately. We’ll locate your driver and give you an updated arrival time, or send a different vehicle.
